About the College

 The College of Political Science began in the academic year 2009–2010 as a department within the College of Law at the University of Anbar. Later, its name was changed to the "College of Law and Political Science," which was officially established in 2010.

In 2024, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research approved the establishment of the independent College of Political Science. The college boasts a distinguished group of professors specialized in various branches of political science. These faculty members have consistently played a vital role in graduating scientifically qualified generations to serve in various state institutions in fields related to political science.

The college aims to prepare scientifically qualified cadres in various areas of political science, including political thought, political systems, international studies, public policy, and other related fields. It seeks to equip specialized students for future work in universities, international organizations, governmental and non-governmental institutions, and to provide scientific consultations and proposals to state departments by enhancing the level of scientific research in political studies.

The department launched a postgraduate (Master’s) program in International Studies for the academic year 2018–2019. The College of Political Science awards a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Political Science – International Studies.
