The role of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Political Science is to provide ongoing support and assistance to all students across different academic levels, both undergraduate and postgraduate, for morning and evening studies. In addition, it serves faculty members and administrative staff. This support helps individuals overcome psychological, educational, and social challenges.

Therefore, the unit has a clear mission and goals focused on achieving the best outcomes by helping individuals realize their potential, fostering psychological, educational, and social balance, and offering assistance in overcoming academic, educational, professional, and social difficulties.


Objectives of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit:

  • Preparing students for academic life in accordance with university discipline, equipping them with faith, knowledge, and education so they can build a conscious and culturally aware society.

  • Welcoming new students and preparing them for university life.

  • Helping students become familiar with university life academically and culturally, especially for first-year students.

  • Helping senior (fourth-year) students achieve their social and professional aspirations as they approach graduation.

  • Identifying the most common psychological and behavioral problems faced by students, staff, and university employees, and providing assistance as quickly as possible through scientifically-based counseling sessions.

  • Providing a supportive psychological and social environment to help students achieve the highest possible academic success.

  • Offering students scientific, psychological, and social guidance that helps them develop problem-solving skills according to their abilities and potential.

  • Providing psychological and social advice aimed at nurturing students’ personal and social growth.

  • Studying and addressing negative behaviors and phenomena that may affect students' academic progress and developing methods for prevention and treatment.

  • Monitoring the circumstances affecting university staff that may cause psychological or behavioral disturbances and offering appropriate recommendations.

  • Promoting psychological awareness among all university members through brochures, posters, and printed materials.

  • Encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities that align with their interests and help them make good use of their free time.
