Awareness Workshop at the College of Political Science – University of Anbar

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Political Science at the University of Anbar, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ali Mohammed, the Women’s Affairs Unit organized a workshop entitled:
“Encouraging Women’s Participation in Parliamentary and Local Elections” on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Alawi Al-Issawi.

The workshop addressed the importance of women’s political participation, whether as voters or candidates, by reviewing the constitutional and legal frameworks, in addition to discussing the main social challenges hindering their active role in the electoral process.

The workshop concluded with several recommendations, most notably:

• Enhancing women’s electoral awareness programs.

• Encouraging women’s representation in electoral lists.

• Strengthening the role of the media in highlighting women’s success stories in politics.

This event comes within the framework of the awareness and educational programs adopted by the College to support electoral campaigns and promote community participation.
